Since Irish Mini Owners Club secured the fantastic new venue of Westport House in County Mayo for the 2017 International Mini Meet, which takes place 25-29 May, the club has been busy arranging much fun and frivolity for Mini owners.
Entertainment has been arranged in the form of live cover bands and DJs, including an Irish music band. The fancy dress theme for the Saturday night party is Pirates and Princesses.
Mini Sport of Padiham has been confirmed as a gold sponsor and will be trading at the event. Anyone else wishing to trade at the IMM should contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
Mini rally legend Paddy Hopkirk MBE will attend the event and showgoers will get the opportunity to meet him.
Local Mini owners who are not attending the IMM will be able to visit the site on the Sunday and also enter the concours competition.
Visitors who do not wish to carry a tent in their Mini will be able to hire bell tents from Westport House.
IMM visitors will be able to tour Westport House free of charge. The tours will take place on Friday, Saturday and Sunday and access to the indoor and outdoor playgounds and access to the pirate adventure park will be free of charge.
There will be a ferris wheel so, for a small charge, IMMers will be able to get an eagle-eye view of the site and there will be dodgems too.
A treasure hunt and an economy run will enable you and your Mini to explore the local area.
The club hopes to attract traders selling Irish food to the site but there are plenty of restaurants in Westport to sample, some of which serve spectacular seafood. Cox’s Steakhouse, in Dromod, is offering discounted meals for travellers to and from the IMM via Dublin Port.
There will be a garage area on site for servicing and repairing of Minis during the event and there will be mechanics willing to help Mini owners out in return for donations of beer.
Anyone with an IMM ticket will be able to set up a free autojumble stand in a designated site on the lawns of the House during the Sunday show, which will be open to day visitors.
A discounted return ferry crossing, costing £120 with StenaLine, is available from Holyhead to Dublin, Stranraer to Belfast and Fishguard to Rosslare. The discount information will be issued once an IMM ticket is purchased at €90 per person.
