At the end of November Irish Mini Owners Club announced on Facebook that the 2017 IMM will no longer be held in Piltown and will instead take place in the grounds of Westport House in County Mayo. The dates will still be 25-29 May.
A spokesperson for IMOC explained: “Following the sale of land which the IMM team had proposed to use for camping, and learning that the new owner would not allow camping, and after exhausting all avenues, the team was left with some very difficult decisions to make. For the safety and security of IMM 2017 the very difficult decision to move the event was taken. Given the shortage of venues that are suitable to host IMMs, the IMM team knew that moving to Westport might cause some inconvenience to some IMMers. However, given the circumstances and the availability of Westport, the team felt the right decision was to move.”
Historic Westport House is located on the edge of picturesque Westport town in County Mayo which is just a few minutes away from the venue. The IMM will take over the grounds of the historic house which includes purpose built camp sites, on-site bar and restaurants. IMM attendees will be able to enjoy guided tours of Westport House and kids can enjoy the pirate adventure park and playgrounds – all this will be included in the IMM ticket price of €70.
Westport House is situated around three hours away from Dublin port and a little under five hours from Rosslare port. A ferry discount code is available for those travelling with Stenaline from a UK port once you have booked an IMM ticket.
